I am a largely self taught artist. I am interested in how we can describe what is around us when we run out of words.  The landscape of the face varies with mood, context, time, and light.  Familiar views like the majestic Dee Estuary or the face of a friend are seen through our own moods and feelings.  How do I see a very familiar view or face in my mind?  I explore various media, mainly oils and pastels, to best represent to others that which I have seen and experienced.  I try to allow the materials I use to interpret images in a free though recognisable rendering. 

 

I was encouraged when I won Second prize at The Festival of Firsts in 2014 with an experimental work, and first prize in 2015 with a portrait.  I also had a work voted 'most popular ' by the public in the annual Heswall Artists Association Exhibition.  

 

My work has been exhibited and sold around the Northwest.
